PCB is set to take action against Pakistani players for this inappropriate behaviour

A report in the ‘Jang’ newspaper said that some Pakistani players agreed to go to a meet-and-greet event in Dallas for just USD 2500 each during the T20 World Cup 2024. The report also mentioned that another event, called ‘A night with stars’, was canceled because there were disagreements about how much money the captain, Babar Azam, and other players were getting. These issues will be looked at closely after the team was knocked out of the tournament because they lost to the USA and India, who were both playing in the tournament for the first time.

Since December 2022, the board has had four different people as chairman, but none of the higher-up officials have been replaced or let go.

It’s becoming obvious that if the players are currently undisciplined and reckless, the fault lies with some of the top management who have been spoiling them, including when they finalized the main contracts last year.

Adding to the tension is the rumor that the team is split, with Babar and fast-bowling star Shaheen Shah Afridi disagreeing about who should be captain.

Pakistan’s messy T20 World Cup performance in the USA is likely to cause changes in the country’s cricket board and result in a set of rules for players. They are being criticized for bringing their families and doing paid promotions during the tournament.

A trustworthy person from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is very upset with how some important leaders are doing their jobs. He thinks they are the reason for the team’s bad behavior, which stopped them from doing better than just the early rounds.

“The PCB might soon let go of some top leaders and also make some really strong rules for the players to follow,” the person explained.

He mentioned that the PCB will soon announce a rule saying players can’t bring their families to big events like the ICC. This is part of their plan to make things better.

“The chairman is not happy because many players brought not just their wives and kids, but also their parents and siblings to stay in the team hotel during the World Cup,” the source explained.

He explained that when people asked who allowed the players to bring their whole families on the tour, it was discovered that some top people in the board made that choice.

“Some of these leaders aren’t really experts, they’re just big fans of the players. They’ve given them many special favors, which ended up causing problems at the World Cup,” the source explained.

He mentioned that the head of the PCB now wants a report on how well all the senior leaders are doing their jobs, because he’s also not satisfied with how things are going for the ICC Champions Trophy, which will happen in Pakistan next year.
