‘Pathetic… And These Australians Are Unbelievable’ Indian legend furious On Wade Drama

Controversial incidents and decisions on the cricket field are not new. England and Australia are playing the three-match T20I series ahead of the T20 World Cup. Looking forward to World Cup, both teams are practicing in full swing. On Sunday, both the teams played the opening encounter, where the English team won the high-scoring thriller by eight runs. But an incident by wicket-keeper batter Matthew Wade on the field was unacceptable.

Australia won the toss and decided to bowl first. English opener started the match with blistering knocks. Skipper Buttler struck 68 runs in his comeback match, and his partner Alex Hales made 84 runs, helped his side to set 208 runs on the board. While chasing, Kangaroos stick with the required run rate for the max of the time. But in the 17th over, Australia’s batter Matthew Wade was on strike and he hit the short length ball from Mark Wood sky high. Wade tried to take a single and stepped out from the popping crease and at the same time, bowler Mark Wood moved toward the wicket in an attempt to catch the ball. Then immediately, Wade wanted back to the striker’s end and stuck out his left arm, blocking the bowler from taking the catch. On-field umpires were discussing, but English fielder Buttler did not make any appeal, and Wade survived. But by seeing the video multiple times, it seems that Wade had deliberately stuck his hand toward the bowler.

Indian former cricketer Venkatesh Prasad was very furious with the Australian team, about this incident. He said the Australian team had cheated on the field and lashed out English skipper for not appealing.

“Pathetic, in a word, this is Cheating, not in the spirit of the game, and Obstructing the field, and what a terrible excuse from Jos Buttler not to appeal. The sense of entitlement of these guys is unbelievable. Bullshitting about the spirit of the game when there is no spirit,” He tweeted.

Although after the match, English skipper Buttler explained the whole incident and said, “They asked if I wanted to appeal, and I said ‘no.’ I’ve only got to Australia, so I thought I would continue the game. “It was hard because I didn’t know what I was appealing for. I could have asked some other boys to see if they had a better view, but I thought I would get on with the game. Maybe I should have asked a few of the lads.”
