Pat Cummins All Set To Feature Himself In The Auction For IPL 2024, Also Gives The Reason Behind It

The captain of the Australian cricket team Pat Cummins has shown his intention to participate in the upcoming season of IPL 2024. He said that he will be featuring in the mini-auction and playing the next edition of IPL in order to prepare for the T20 World Cup happening in the USA and West Indies. The fast bowler withdrew from the 2023 IPL season due to a busy schedule, which involved the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the Ashes within a short span of time.

Cummins was acquired by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a hefty sum of ₹7.25 crore in the 2022 mega auction. He had previously garnered significant attention by fetching ₹15.25 crore at the 2019 auction, securing the title of the most expensive foreign player at that point in time. The Kolkata Knight Riders, who have won the IPL twice, decided to release Cummins along with several other international players who marked themselves out from the IPL 2023.

Cummins last played a T20 match during the 2022 T20 World Cup. He said that he will be looking to play in the IPL in order to adapt to the playing conditions of the shortest format of the game.

Before the semifinal game against South Africa, Cummins said, “I feel like I haven’t played a heap of T20 cricket and in some ways, I feel like I haven’t played my best T20 cricket for a little while. I’m really excited, I’m probably going to go into the IPL auction for next year to try to get some games before that World Cup and push a case to not only make the side but get back to how I feel like I can bowl in T20 cricket.”
