“I am not playing cricket because I want to represent Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024. I am playing because I am enjoying the game. If they want me, then I want clarity,” Malik was quoted as saying in an event, Dawn News reported.
Since his involvement with Jaffna Kings in the 2023 Lanka Premier League (LPL), Malik has been away from competitive cricket, awaiting a return to the international arena.
Driven by ambition, Malik eyes the top spot in T20 cricket’s leading run-scorers, seeking to surpass Chris Gayle’s record. With a mere 1874 runs away from Gayle’s milestone, Malik aims to etch his name at the pinnacle of T20 batting excellence.
“My goal is to outshine Chris Gayle as the highest run-scorer in T20 cricket. I’m eyeing around 2000 runs to make that dream a reality. And I’ve been blessed with sound physical fitness,” Malik proclaimed.
