Not Sachin Or Kohli, Gautam Gambhir Picks This All-rounder As The Greatest ODI Batter For India In ODI History

India has got many great batters in the history of One Day Internationals. From Sachin Tendulkar to Sehwag and then Kohli to Rohit Sharma, all these players have proved their potential as the match winner for India in 50-over cricket. Meanwhile, the former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has picked his all-time favorite white-ball batter for India and he has snubbed all the names mentioned above.

The former KKR captain has picked the former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh as the no.1 Indian batter in ODI history. In an interview with News18, Gambhir picked Yuvraj Singh for his match-winning abilities and the capability of performing under crunch situations.

Gambhir further added that Yuvraj Singh is one of the most underrated cricketers in India and Indian cricket fans do not recognize his value. According to Gambhir, the media also did not highlight the achievements of Yuvraj Singh which were deserving for him.

“He (Yuvraj) was a brilliant player. I will call him underrated because the media didn’t praise him enough for his performances like they did others. The two world cup titles India have won are because of him. For me, the best batter in India’s white-ball history is Yuvraj Singh.”

“I have been playing with Yuvraj since U-16 days. He played for Punjab, I for Delhi. They played together at U-19 level, then played against each other in Ranji Trophy. I have never come across a more talented player than him in India,” Gambhir said.

“Unfortunate he couldn’t play 100 Tests because he played in an era when Virender Sehwag, me, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly, MS Dhoni were part of the Test team. He couldn’t find a place in India’s middle order. Yuvraj would have broken several records,” he said.
