Former South African star Ab De Villiers has picked his all-time greatest T20 player of all time. Fans would think that Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Jos Buttler, or David Warner would be his choice but Mr 360 has gone with another name.
AB De Villiers has played a lot of cricket in Indian Premier League where he served Royal Challengers Bangalore for almost a decade. During this, he played with Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle, one of the giants in the history of T20. Former Indian wicket-keeper Virat Kohli has 4008 runs to his name in T20 international, while Chris Gayle has more than 14,000 runs across all formats.
However, the player picked by De Villiers as the greatest T20I wizard is none of the cricketers mentioned above. He claimed Afghanistan leggie Rashid Khan as the best-ever T20 player.
While speaking to SuperSport, De Villiers said, “My greatest T20 player of all time is none other than Rashid Khan. He delivers with bat and ball. Match winner in both departments; he is a livewire in the field and has got the heart of a lion. He always wants to win; he’s very competitive, and he’s right there with one of the best T20 players. Not one of the best, the best.”
With the brand-new Gujarat Titans, the 24-year-old spinner won the 2022 IPL championship. Prior to the competition last year, he switched teams and ended a successful stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad by joining the Hardik Pandya-led team.
