Border- Gavaskar Trophy: BCCI To Against ICC Will Challenge The Rating Of Indore Pitch

After the third Test in Indore, the ground got into controversy and the International Cricket Council(ICC) marked the pitch as ‘Poor’. Now, The rating of the Indore pitch at the Holkar Cricket Stadium by the International Cricket Council (ICC), which was used in the present Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, is likely to be challenged by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Even before the series started, images and videos of pitch curators making pitches were posted on social media, where many people left a variety of remarks. There was much debate over the Nagpur and Delhi pitch but the controversy sparked across the globe when it came to the Indore Test.

Match referee Chris Board had his statement a few days back over the Indore Test,” The pitch, which was very dry, did not provide a balance between bat and ball, favoring spinners from the start. The fifth ball of the match broke through the pitch surface and continued to occasionally break the surface providing little or no seam movement and there was excessive and uneven bounce throughout the match.”

The BCCI has exactly two weeks to file a challenge against the sanction by the rules of the international governing body. There is a high chance that the BCCI may choose to use it this time for the Indore pitch.

“We will take stock of the situation and decide,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

There are now three demerit points against the Indore pitch. The Holkar Cricket Stadium’s ability to host any international matches will be prohibited for a year if the Indore pitch continues to acquire at least two more demerit points over the next five years, bringing its total to five.
