Not KL Rahul Or Sanju Samson, Robin Uthappa Picks This Young Indian For The Number 4 Position In ODI World Cup

The ODI World is near and so is the Asia Cup. Team India is currently on the tour of West Indies where they recently concluded the five-match T20I series. Now the men in blue will move to Ireland for a three-match T20I series where the team will be led by Jasprit Bumrah. In the T20I series against West Indies, Tilak Varma impressed everyone with his batting skills and now the former Indian batter Robin Uthappa has praised the budding superstar.

Uthappa said that Tilak Varma has registered himself in the eyes of selectors and the management will definitely think of this young batter for the ODI World Cup. According to the former CSK player, Varma could add an extra value to the middle-order and he can play some amazing innings when other players are injured and out of the team at present.

While speaking to Jio Cinema, Robin Uthappa said,”Yeah. Certainly, he will be discussed by the selectors as well, because if you want to look at someone who can serve the team for a long time and he seems like he’s got a pretty good head on his shoulders, and he goes about his business in a very diligent way.”

Players like KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are already out of the team due to their respective injuries. Management gave a chance to Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson but they did not impress much to anyone and now Tilak Varma has cash-in the chances to secure the number four position.

“We know that he’s someone who can be responsible. And even today, the kind of partnership he stitched up after the first two wickets fell. Well, you know, you saw that responsibility, uh, taking on responsibility, which is quite nice.”
