Not KL Rahul Or Gill, Robin Uthappa Picks This Player As The Next Captain Of Team India

Former Indian batter Robin Uthappa is known for his cricket analysis and for giving valuable suggestions to the players and team via different mediums. Recently the batter has talked about the future captain of team India after the retirement of Rohit Sharma. Uthappa said that Shreyas Iyer is the one cricketer who has the potential to lead team India in white-ball format.

Shreyas Iyer makes a strong comeback after his injury and plays some valuable knocks for Men In Blue in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. After playing some handy knocks, Iyer came up with a strong hundred in the last league match of team India against Netherlands. He scored 128 runs in just 94 balls.

His ability to soak the pressure has been one of the best changes Shreyas Iyer has made in recent times. Format Indian batter Mohammad Kaif has also said that Iyer, who used to face challenges against the short-ball is now playing very comfortably against it.

Shreyas Iyer has scored 421 runs in the tournament till now, which is the highest by any middle-order batter in the history of the tournament.

While praising Shreyas Iyer on his YouTube channel, Uthappa said, “Whatever was said about his issues with the short ball, he has shown he has put in a lot of hard work and he seems to be confident as well. He looks very very good. He looks very good at No.4. If he continues to perform this way, I won’t be surprised if he becomes the captain of the Indian side. Especially in white-ball cricket.”
