The former Indian batting all-rounder Ravi Shastri has predicted the winner for the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League. The ex-Indian coach feels that Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans will once again lift the trophy. Let us tell you that, Gujarat Titans came to the tournament in IPL 2022 and won the trophy in the first season itself.
Currently, Gujarat Titans are sitting at the top with 6 wins in 9 games and are on the verge of qualifying for the playoffs. Former cricketer Shastri gave his opinion that the team which performed well in the previous edition of the tournament has the potential to retain the prestigious title. Shastri believes that GT’s flexibility and the consistent performances of some of its members could play a significant role in retaining the title once again.
“Looking at the current form and team standings, I believe Gujarat will win the trophy. There is consistency and flexibility in this team and there are seven-eight players who are performing consistently. The players in this Gujarat side complement each other,” Shastri said on Star Sports.
In their most recent match, Gujarat faced a loss against Delhi Capitals which ended their streak of three consecutive wins. Gujarat will now face Rajasthan Royals who were the runners-up in the previous season at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Friday, May 5th.
Former cricketer Shastri has praised Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson before the most anticipated clash between GT and RR. Shastri has been impressed with the way Samson has been utilizing his team’s spinners in their matches and how he has developed as a skipper in the last two years.
