New milestone alert: Nicholas Pooran overtakes Chris Gayle scoring most runs for West Indies in T 20 format

West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran becomes the batter to score the most runs for the West Indies in the shortest format of the game, surpassing “Universe Boss” Chris Gayle.

Chris Gayle had earlier scored 1899 runs for the West Indies in T20 internationals, which included 14 fifties and 2 hundreds. Chris Gayle is currently one of the ambassadors of the game, alongside Usain Bolt and Yuvraj Singh. Despite not playing competitive cricket for some time, Chris Gayle is still one of the most talked-about batters in the shortest format of the game.

As far as landmarks are concerned, Nicholas Pooran needed only 2 runs to go past Chris Gayle; he got there with a streaky boundary in the third-man region.

However, Nichols Pooran could not go big, as in order to keep up the ante, he was dismissed by Tim Southee, who scored 17 runs on 12 deliveries, which included three boundaries.

Speaking of Pooran’s international stats, so far in 91 matches, the southpaw has scored 1914 runs at an average of 25.52. Pooran will also have his eyes set on becoming the first Carabian batter to score 2000 runs for the West Indies in T-20 format.
