“Need to make way for…”Sehwag takes a new Jibe against Shakib Al Hasan after his poor performance against India

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag criticized Bangladesh’s all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for his performance during their 197-run chase against India in the T20 World Cup Super Eight match on Saturday, which resulted in a 50-run loss for Bangladesh. India batted first and scored 196/5 in 20 overs, with Hardik Pandya making an unbeaten 50 off 27 balls, including four fours and three sixes, and Virat Kohli contributing 37 runs. Bangladesh had a good start but struggled in the middle overs, losing wickets frequently and ultimately falling short. Shakib was out for 11 runs off seven balls while attempting to hit a boundary off Kuldeep Yadav.

Kuldeep took three wickets, and Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh each took two, limiting Bangladesh to 146/8 in 20 overs.

Sehwag commented, “When you have a settled batter at the crease, you should support him. Try to stay in the game, spend time at the crease, and contribute more than just 11 runs.”

Kuldeep took three wickets, and Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh each got two wickets, which helped limit Bangladesh to 146/8 in 20 overs.

“If you have a player who’s already batting well, just help him out. Try to stay on the field and spend some time there, and maybe get something from the game. But instead, only 11 runs came from seven balls, and then he left. I didn’t get that,” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

The experienced player suggested that Shakib should retire and give a chance to the younger players on the team.

“He has a lot of experience. So, is he not using it well or does he not care? Or did he think the goal was too big and he’ll just hit a six every time now? That’s why I said before, he should let a younger player take his place,” Sehwag explained.

After losing two important games, Bangladesh is almost out of the chance to reach the semifinals. They will play against Afghanistan in their final game on June 25.
