Veteran Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon recently predicted the finalists for the T20 World Cup 2024, set to be held in the West Indies and the USA in June. He excluded strong teams like India, England, and South Africa while picking the finalists of the tournament.
England will enter the awaited tournament as the defending champions. The team, led by Jos Buttler, won the 2022 T20 World Cup by defeating Pakistan in the final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). India did not have a great outing during the T20 World Cup. They were kicked out of the semifinal after losing to the England Cricket Team.
This year 20 teams will compete for the trophy. They are divided into four groups of five teams each. The top two teams from each group will move on to the Super 8 stage. The best four teams from there will advance to the semi-finals, where they will compete for a spot in the final match.
Nathan Lyon predicted that Australia and Pakistan would be the finalists in the T20 World Cup. He said that he belongs to Australia that’s why he picked Australia and he picked Pakistan based on their spin bowling attack.
“These are my 2024 cricket predictions. For the T20 final teams, Australia, obviously, because I’m quite biased towards them. I’m going to go with Pakistan. In those conditions, they have quality spin bowlers but also electric batters like Babar Azam,” Nathan Lyon said.
