On June 23, the Board of Control For Cricket In India(BCCI) Announces the Indian squad for the ODI and Test series on the upcoming West Indies Tour. In this squad many youngsters have got the call for the senior team and the Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is one such name.
Expressing his thoughts over his first-ever selection for Team India in Test, Yashasvi Jaiswal shared his mixed emotions of nervousness and excitement. This achievement fulfilled a long-standing dream for Jaiswal, who had dedicated years of hard work, sleepless nights, and his early days at Azad Maidan tent to make his bright future in cricket.
Jaiswal has played 15 first-class matches to date and scored more than 1800 runs. After his consistent performance in domestic cricket and then the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League, the selectors decided to put him with the same pool of senior players.
While talking about his selection, Jaiswal said, “My father started crying (when he got to know). I have not yet met my mother; I am going to see her in some time. I was out from the morning, had a practice session as well as some other work.”
Jaiswal said that he would now move to the National Cricket Academy(NCA) in the coming days where he would start preparation for the upcoming West Indies Tour starting from July 12.
