MS Dhoni In Problem, Case Filed Against Captain Cool For This Bizarre

The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) which is the advertising industry’s self-regulatory body has filed complaints on several celebrities which also includes the name of the former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Apart from captain cool, this list also has the name of Youtuber comedian Bhuvan Bam who has been found violating the rules of advertisement.

There is about 803% of jumps witnessed against these celebrities in FY23 to 503 ads. A year ago, the complaint was limited to 55 only.

A report in Press Journal has came with the statement from ASCI which stated,”In spite of the Consumer Protection Act now legally requiring celebrities to do their due diligence when they appear in ads, in 97 percent of cases processed by ASCI featuring celebrities, they failed to provide any evidence of due diligence.”

The CSK captain has emerged as the top celebrity with the highest number of non-compliance instances which is 10, according to the advertising body. Youtuber and actor-comedian Bhuvan Bam secured the second spot with seven counts of non-compliance.

In 2013, Dhoni got in controversy when he appeared as Lord Vishnu in an advertisement. The former Indian cricket captain faced a case accusing him of hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus. The advertisement depicted Dhoni holding multiple products endorsed by him including a shoe. However, the Supreme Court dismissed the case in 2016.

Currently, the CSK captain is leading the team in IPL 2023 and they are on the verge of qualifying into the playoffs. The team now stands at second spot with 15 points and they will play their last match against Delhi Capitals on May 20 at Arun Jaitley Stadium.
