Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni just hit another milestone in his fantastic cricket career. He became the first player in IPL history to reach 200 fielding dismissals. Dhoni achieved this during a match against Lucknow Super Giants on Monday at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.
In the 14th over, he showed his skill behind the stumps when Ayush Badoni tried to take on Ravindra Jadeja. Badoni stepped out of his crease, but Jadeja outsmarted him and got him out. Dhoni quickly grabbed the ball and knocked the bails off the stumps in no time.
This milestone came during Dhoni’s 271st IPL match. He hit the 200-dismissal mark by catching Rishabh Pant in the final over as Lucknow finished their innings at 166/7. Dhoni now has 201 dismissals, which include 155 catches and 46 stumpings. Dinesh Karthik is next on the list with 182 dismissals, while AB de Villiers has 126.
In this match, Dhoni won the toss and put Lucknow to bat. They had a brief 50-run partnership between Mitchell Marsh and Pant, but besides that, not much went right for them early on. Pant scored a half-century, finishing with 63 runs off 49 balls, including four fours and four sixes. Towards the end of the innings, he and Abdul Samad added another 53 runs, helping Lucknow reach 166/7. For CSK, Jadeja and Matheesha Pathirana were the standout bowlers, taking two wickets each.
