“Mom Said you…”Ravichandran Ashwin Spill Beans On His Comeback In Rajkot Test After Opting Out Due To Medical Emergency.

Team India veteran spinner is on the cusp of playing his 100th test match for Team India. The all-rounder has been one of the biggest match winners for India in the red-ball format.

However, Ravi Ashwin revealed that his mother from the hospital bed requested that he go back and join the side as the match was still not over. Ashwin claimed his 500th wicket in test matches, and just after that, he withdrew from the match, citing a medical emergency in his family.

In his recent interaction with ESPNCRICINFO, Ashwin said, “When I landed and got to the hospital, my mom was slipping in and out of consciousness, and the first thing she asked me was, ‘Why did you come?’ The next time she was conscious, she said, ”I think you should go back because the test match is happening.”

Ashwin is on a cusp to play his 100th test match for team India. He talked about how his family has helped him reach where he is today and how just a single decision from his parents made him what he is today.

Speaking of the same, Ashwin said, “The entire family is built on cricket and to facilitate my career. It hasn’t been easy. It has been very hard on them. It’s been a big roller-coaster for them—going through the emotions and ups and downs that I myself do.”
