Dhruv Jurel or Rishabh Pant? Brad Hogg Make His Wicket-keeper Choice For Indian Test Cricket Team

According to former Australian spinner Brad Hogg, he suggests that India should go ahead with Dhruv Jurel as the wicketkeeper in Test cricket. Hogg emphasizes the importance of not hurrying Rishabh Pant’s return to the Test team.

Hogg said that Pant should not be included in the test team so early, rather he should play domestic cricket before to rub down his rust after a long gap.

In the ongoing Test series against England, Jurel has emerged as the rising star for India in red-ball cricket. On the other side, Pant has been working diligently to stage a comeback to competitive cricket after a fatal car accident in December 2022.

“I think they will keep with Jurel and not go back to Pant quickly. I think they will make him go and play some first-class cricket in the longest format so that they make sure his body can withstand it and make sure, from a batting perspective, he still has the ability that he had before the accident,” Hogg said on his YouTube channel.

“I really hope that Pant gets back to playing Test cricket, but I feel it is a huge risk if they rush him back.”

KS Bharat’s average performance with the bat during the initial two Tests created an opportunity for Jurel to make his international debut for India. The 23-year-old showcased his skills impressively in his first Test appearance, contributing with a noteworthy 46-run innings in the Rajkot Test. In the Ranchi Test, he went on to score 90 runs and made a handy contribution to win the match for India.
