Veteran Indian pacer Mohammed Shami was recently posed with the question of selecting the best batsman in the world. While answering this he named Virat Kohli. Not only this, Shami also gave special recognition to captain Rohit Sharma and marked him as the most dangerous batter in world cricket.
While having a conversation with News18, Rohit Sharma said, “Virat Kohli is the best batsman in the world. He has just broken a lot of records. I feel Virat is the best but if you ask me who the most dangerous batter in the world is, I would say Rohit Sharma.”
Shami also picked the best captain and for this, he named the former Indian legendary cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Explaining this, Shami asserted, “It’s different for everyone. Everything comes down to comparison. You will go with the most successful person. So, I’ll go with Mahendra Singh Dhoni because whatever he has achieved, no one has been able to eclipse that.”
At present, Mohammed Shami remains absent from the Indian squad and he was not there with the team for the initial two Test matches against England. The uncertainty surrounding his participation in the upcoming three Tests poses a challenge for India in managing the workload of their available fast bowlers, particularly Jasprit Bumrah.
India has not announced the squad for the remaining three Tests. While Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be included, the primary concern is determining the appropriate time to provide him with a break.
