“Mohammad Siraj threw a ball towards Steve Smith…” Sourav Ganguly Lambasted Indian Bowling Attack In WTC Final

In a highly-anticipated clash, Australia emerged victorious by defeating India by 209 runs in the final of the World Test Championship, securing their maiden title. Led by Pat Cummins, the Australian side dominated the game, leaving India with few moments of joy. Australia’s strong start on Day 1, with a score of 327 for 3, established their advantage. Although India made a spirited comeback the following day, it was too late, as Australia managed to post a formidable total of 469 runs.

Former India captain and ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly expressed his opinion that the Indian team lacked intent in their bowling performance on the opening day of the summit clash. Ganguly remarked, “Mohammad Siraj threw a ball towards Steve Smith in the first session of Day 2 in the WTC final, and then India’s bowling became different from both ends. Such intent was missing on Day 1.”

During the 94th over of the Australian innings on Day 2, Siraj aggressively threw the ball toward Steve Smith after he had defended it back to the pacer. This incident seemed to impact Australia as it lost their last six wickets while adding 101 runs.

Australia continued their dominance by bundling India out for 296 runs in their first innings, taking a substantial lead of 173. They declared their second innings at 270 for 8, setting a challenging target of 444 runs for India.

Although India showed resilience and ended Day 4 at 164 for 3, the final day witnessed a batting collapse as India was eventually bowled out for 234 runs. The collapse prevented India from mounting a successful chase and allowed Australia to claim a comprehensive victory.

The World Test Championship final showcased Australia’s clinical performance and ability to seize crucial moments in the game. On the other hand, India faced challenges, including the lack of intent in their bowling on the opening day, which impacted their overall performance. Despite the defeat, India’s journey to the final demonstrated their prowess as a formidable Test side and their ability to compete at the highest level.
