Mohammad Hafeez Appointed Director Of Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team With Additional Responsibility, Check Full Reports

In a strategic move, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former captain Mohammad Hafeez as the Director of the Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team. This decision comes in the aftermath of Pakistan’s disappointing World Cup campaign, signalling a fresh approach and leadership in the team’s management. Additionally, Hafeez is set to take on the role of Head Coach during the Pakistan tour of Australia later this year.

Mohammad Hafeez, a recent member of the PCB’s technical committee, has seamlessly transitioned from being an active player to assuming a pivotal administrative role. The 43-year-old all-rounder brings a wealth of experience, having played a crucial part in Pakistan’s triumphant 2017 Champions Trophy campaign. His appointment as Director marks a shift in the team’s management structure, succeeding Mickey Arthur.

The PCB has taken a bold step by parting ways with the entire coaching staff, including the experienced Mickey Arthur. This decision underscores the board’s commitment to revitalizing the team’s coaching setup. The upcoming series in Australia and New Zealand will witness a new coaching staff, with the PCB expected to make announcements soon.

“Former Test captain Mohammad Hafeez has been given the responsibility of Director – Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team. Mohammad Hafeez has featured for Pakistan in 55 Tests, 218 ODIs and 119 T20Is and has scored 12,780 runs and has taken 253 wickets,” the PCB release stated.

This official statement from the PCB recognizes Hafeez’s remarkable contribution to Pakistani cricket and outlines the extensive experience he brings to his new role.

“The PCB has changed the portfolio of the Pakistan coaching staff. All coaches will continue to work in National Cricket Academy while PCB will announce the new coaching staff in due course for the upcoming series in Australia and New Zealand,” the statement added.

Mohammad Hafeez boasts an illustrious career record in international cricket, showcasing his versatility as a top-order batsman and an off-spin bowler. With nearly 13,000 runs and over 250 wickets in 392 games across all formats, Hafeez’s impact on the field has been substantial. His role as an all-rounder has been instrumental in various memorable victories for Pakistan.

As Hafeez assumes the role of Director and interim Head Coach, Pakistani cricket enthusiasts are eager to witness the vision and strategies he brings to the table. The upcoming series in Australia will serve as a litmus test for the revamped coaching setup, and Hafeez’s leadership will be scrutinized as the team aims for a resurgence.
