Mitchell Starc Confirmed His Participation For IPL 2024, Gives A Huge Statement

The Australian pacer Mitchell Starc has confirmed that he is looking to participate in the IPL 2024 as to prepare himself for the T20 World Cup. As we know the World Cup in the smallest form of cricket will be played next year in the West Indies and USA.

If the Aussie speedster gets picked by any franchise, it would make his first appearance in the tournament since 2015. In total, he has played 27 matches over two seasons for the Royal Challengers Bangalore under the captaincy of Virat Kohli.

In 2018, Kolkata Knight Riders purchased him, but he had to withdraw due to injury. On other occasions, he has contemplated a comeback but ultimately chose to focus on spending time at home due to Australia participating in different tournaments in several formats.

Next year, Australia’s cricket calendar is less hectic, featuring only the T20 World Cup between a tour of New Zealand in March and white-ball series against Afghanistan, Ireland, and England starting in late August.

Starc has often chosen to skip the IPL in the past because he wants to prioritise his availability for Test cricket.

While talking to Willow Talk Cricket Podcast, Starc said,”Look it’s been eight years. I’m definitely going back in the next IPL.”

He further added,”So a good opportunity to see if anyone’s interested in the IPL, then lead into the T20 World Cup. And it’s somewhat of a quiet winter next year…in comparison to this winter, so I think it’s a perfect opportunity to put my name in.”
