Mumbai Indians secured their first win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 by defeating Delhi by 29 runs on Sunday, April 7 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After losing the first three matches, MI finally registered a win in the tournament.
After this victory, Hardik Pandya’s MI moved to the 8th position in the standings, pushing Royal Challengers Bangalore to 9th and Delhi to 10th place in the points table.
In this match, the former Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma joined an elite group by becoming the fourth player to take 100 or more catches as a fielder in the history of the IPL. The other three players in this list are Virat Kohli (110 catches), Suresh Raina (109 catches), and Kieron Pollard (103 catches).
Not only this, Romario Shepherd created a record by achieving the highest strike rate in an IPL innings where he faced 10 or more balls. He scored an unbeaten 39 runs from only 10 balls. During this, he possesses a strike rate of 390.0.
In the bowling department for Mumbai Indians, Jasprit Bumrah reached the milestone of 150 wickets in the IPL and he became the third-fastest bowler to do so in 124 innings. Lasith Malinga holds the record for the fastest which he has accompanied in 105 innings, after this there comes Yuzvendra Chahal who got 150 wickets in 118 innings.
