Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s knee surgery occurred Thursday at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. The details regarding the specific nature of the surgery are yet to be disclosed. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said the surgery was successful, and Dhoni is currently in stable condition. He is expected to be discharged within the next few days, after which he will rest before commencing an extensive rehabilitation program. “Yes, Dhoni had a successful knee surgery on Thursday at the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. He is doing fine, and the surgery happened in the morning. I don’t have details, and I am yet to get all the details about the nature of the surgery and other things,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed to PTI.

A source close to the CSK management revealed that the surgery was a strategic move to ensure Dhoni’s availability for the next IPL season. The CSK camp is hopeful that with sufficient rehabilitation and proper rest, Dhoni will be able to participate and lead the team once again.

“He will be discharged in a day or two, and he will be resting for a few days before his extensive rehabilitation starts. It is now expected that he would have enough time to get fit to play in the next IPL,” another source close to CSK management told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
