The tall Australian left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc, who was the costliest purchase in the history of the IPL, has arrived in Kolkata for the upcoming IPL season.
Mitchell Starc was purchased by KKR for a whopping sum of Rs 24.75 crore, which is the most by any IPL team for any player in IPL history.
This would be the first time that Starc will be seen playing in the IPL. The pacer was last seen in RCB colors way back in 2015. He made his IPL debut in 2014 and was part of the RCB for two consecutive seasons.
However, after 2015, Starc wanted to focus more on red-ball cricket, so he decided to skip the IPL for a long period of time.
He was brought into the IPL 2018 by KKR but failed to turn up for the franchise even for a single match due to injury.
Mitchell Starc is set to feature in the IPL after 8 years and will be part of Shreyas Iyer’s KKR in this IPL season.
In his recent interview with cricket.com.au, Starc said, “It’s been 8 years, I think. Back to KKR, where I was supposed to be in 2018.
So I’ll be back there for the chance to pull on the gold and purple. I guess my memories are a few and far between back in 2014 and 2015 with RCB, but yeah, really excited to get stuck in. Obviously, a new group of players. A bunch of guys I certainly haven’t met or been able to work with before.”

Starc further added, “A couple of guys that I’ve played against and come across. Yeah, it’s going to be exciting. It’s definitely a new challenge. But yeah, it’ll be exciting. It’s always a bit of a circus when it’s the best T20 league in the world. So, yeah, I look forward to it.”
KKR will begin their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23 at Eden Gardens.
