Renowned fast bowler Wasim Akram praised Virat Kohli as one of the best ever after the batsman announced his retirement from T20 international cricket on Saturday, June 29. Virat Kohli received the player of the match award in his last T20I, leading India to their second T20 World Cup victory. Wasim shared his thoughts on Kohli in a Twitter video, expressing his regret that people today won’t get to see Kohli play.
Akram, who was in the Caribbean islands for his commentary work, praised the Indian team for showing great determination in the final of the tournament. Wasim thought India was going to lose the final when South Africa needed 30 runs in 30 balls.
In the video, Wasim Akram congratulated India on winning the T20 World Cup 2024. He praised Virat for his tough innings of 76 runs off 59 balls and said that Kohli’s way of building his innings showed why he was one of the best players in the game. Akram explained that Kohli knew if he could score at a steady pace on one end, India would reach 160-170. He also praised the Indian team for playing together as a team and overcoming difficulties when South Africa needed just 30 runs in the last 5 overs.
