KL Rahul Creates History, Becomes Second Indian After Virat Kohli To Achieve This Huge Milestone

KL Rahul and his team beat South Africa by 78 runs and clinched the ODI series by 2-1. With this, the stand-in captain for India, KL Rahul made a huge history to his name.

KL Rahul achieved a major milestone by becoming the second Indian captain after Virat Kohli to guide India to an ODI series victory in men’s cricket in South Africa. Notably, seven captains, including Rahul, have led Indian teams in ODIs in South Africa which has been the toughest place to win the series.

India’s victory in the ODI series against South Africa marked only the second event in 21 years that the Indian cricket team secured a bilateral ODI series win in South Africa. The first series win came under the captaincy of Virat Kohli when India produced an exceptional overseas performance, recording a historic 5-1 victory in a 6-match series against South Africa in 2018.

Mohammad Azharuddin was the captain of the Indian cricket team during their inaugural ODI bilateral series in South Africa, where India faced a 2-5 defeat in the 7-match series. Several captains including Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, and MS Dhoni all failed to win a series in South Africa.

In this match, while batting first India posted a total of 296 runs at the loss of eight wickets. Sanju Samson got a solid hundred and smashed 108 runs. Tilak Varma(52) and Rinku Singh also contributed with 38 runs.

For South Africa, Beuran Hendricks got three wickets, while Nandre Burger smashed two wickets. Keshav Maharaj, Wiaan Mulder, and Williams managed to get one wicket each.

While chasing the target South Africa managed to reach 218 only and their batters were bundled out in 45.5 overs.

For India, Arshdeep Singh got four wickets, while Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar managed to get 2 wickets each. One wicket was equally grabbed by Mukesh Kumar and Axar Patel.
