Karthik Or Pant? Sunil Gavaskar Gives A Blunt Reply Over The Wicket-Keeper Choice For T20 World Cup

T20 World Cup 2022 is all set to commence on the 16th of October. The 8th edition of the T20 World Cup will be played in Australia and almost all the teams have announced their squad for the same.

At the moment, the Australian cricket team is touring India for a 3-match T20I series against the hosts. The first match of the series will be played on 20th September in Mohali.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar has now come up with a strong opinion that Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant should be there in the Indian playing XI. As we know, the BCCI has roped in both the players for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

The debate over Karthik and Pant started after a glorious season of Karthik in the IPL 2022 playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Since then, both the players have served team India according to the need of the hour. However, ‘Little Master’ feels that there is a possibility that both the wicketkeepers can be added to the squad.

Speaking to Sports Tak, Gavaskar said, “I would play both Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik. At No.5, Rishabh Pant, No.6 Hardik Pandya or the vice-versa, and I’ll play Dinesh Karthik at No.7. I would give Hardik and four other options as bowlers. If you do not take the risk, how will you win? You need to take risks in all departments then only you can get rewards.”

Team India will start their World Cup campaign against Pakistan on 23rd October. Both teams will face each other at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
