Kapil Dev Pointed Out India’s Major Concern In T20 World Cup

Team India won their second match by 53 runs against minnows Netherland and sealed the top position on the table in Group 2. In the opening encounter game, they had beaten their arch-rival Pakistan in a thriller show by 4 wickets. India is the only team in this T20 marquee tournament who have been unbeaten till now. In the first match, India’s batting order collapsed except for Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya, who scored 82 and 40 runs, respectively, and built a road to winning. But in the second match against Netherland, Men in blue showed some outstanding batting performances, except for KL Rahul, who is still struggling to get his form back. Skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav scored half-centuries and set enough total on the board to win the game.

However, despite winning two consecutive matches, former Indian captain Kapil dev pointed out a big concern for the Indian team in the upcoming clash with South Africa in Perth on Sunday. Kapil dev said India must overcome their big issues before it’s too late for them. Although they have already improved their bowling attack, they still need to enhance another blow if they want to go all the way long.

“The bowling has gotten better. In batting, I felt India could have scored more runs but, in the last 10 overs, they made up for it by scoring over 100 runs. See, the grounds are big; hence, the spinners gain a little advantage. I would still say that we are still lacking in bowling in patches,” said Kapil dev. Against a team like the Netherlands, you should have proper planning as to where to bowl in terms of line and length. The biggest thing is that there should not be no-balls or wides in such matches because you are practicing and need to win the match. So overall, I would say, the bowling was good, but still some loopholes were visible.” Legend further added.
In the end, he showed his concern about the batting order of the Indian side in the last match against the Netherland, where Rohit & Co. scored 112 runs in the last 10 overs and 67 runs in the first 10 overs. Although, he praised Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli’s partnership of 95 runs. And also, in the bowling area, men in blue should control extras.

“Suryakumar Yadav has really grabbed his chances well in this team. To score runs so quickly, he should be praised more. India would still want their captain Rohit Sharma to be a little more compact and Rahul to score some runs. Virat Kohli should play anchor because he can accelerate, but if he gets the chance to play through the entire 20 overs, this team can chase down any total. In the last 1-2 years, he was the player we were struggling to find – who will bat for us at No.4? There were players but not the kind of contenders we found in Suryakumar,” Kapil said last.
