The five-time IPL Champions, Chennai Super Kings have faced injury concerns recently particularly with pacers like Deepak Chahar and Matheesa Pathirana. With this, the former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan suggests that in the upcoming auction on December 19 in Dubai, the Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s team must go for an Indian bowler.
Pathan suggests that the Chennai Super Kings could be interested in acquiring Harshal Patel, who was released by RCB before the auction. Despite a less impressive performance in the last IPL season, the 33-year-old was the leading wicket-taker in IPL 2021.
Harshal Patel is known for his smart bowling specially in death overs which would definitely benefit Dhoni and team especially at Chepauk. Pathan feels that Harshal Patel could be a potential match winner for Yellow Jersey.
While having a conversation at Star Sports, Pathan said,”They have a lot of fast bowlers who can get injured regularly, guys like Deepak Chahar. They keep a lot of faith in Deepak Chahar but if he is not fit and available, they can be in a mess. So what they need – maybe a guy like Harshal Patel. Bangalore is not far from there, so just get Harshal Patel with a small ride of five hours, and just get him in CSK.”
Meanwhile, before the retention, Chennai Super Kings released the star English all-rounder Ben Stokes as he pulled out from the IPL 2024, the 17th edition of this mega cash-rich league.
