Jofra Archer Will Play In Ashes 2023 Or Not? ECB Takes The Final Decision

Star England pacer Jofra Archer will miss both the one-off Test against Ireland and the Ashes series due to a stress fracture in his elbow. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) revealed on Tuesday that Archer will not be part of the squad for the Ireland Test.

Archer recently participated in IPL 2023 and played in the Indian Premier League for the Mumbai Indians. Archer faced persistent challenges due to his injury. His performance was strictly average and he got only two wickets in five matches at the economy rate of 9.50.

During the middle IPL season in 2023, Jofra Archer sought treatment in Belgium to recover his injury concerns. However, despite his efforts the Mumbai Indians roped in another English bowling all-rounder Chris Jordan for the remainder of the 16th edition of IPL.

ECB managing director, Rob Key talked about the player’s injury and their absence from the team.

“It has been a frustrating and upsetting period for Jofra Archer. He was making good progress until a recurrence of the elbow injury, which kept him out for an extended period previously. We wish him the best of luck with his recovery.”

He further added,”I’m sure we will see Jofra back to his best and winning games for England, whatever the format. Hopefully, sooner rather than later.I would like to wish the players every success, especially those returning after some time away.”

Archer is in trouble due to his injuries and for this he has missed a lot of cricket over the last few years. Mumbai Indians bought him for INR 8 Crore and then he was ruled out from IPL 2022 as well.
