Star India pacer Jasprit Bumrah is coming out from an injury after a long time. Now he has been assigned with the captaincy duties for the upcoming India Tour of Ireland where the team will play a three-match T20I series. However, according to reports, VVS Laxman will not be part of this squad as he used to coach the second string team.
According to a source from the Cricbuzz, team India will fly to Dublin on the 15th August 2023, the date where India will also celebrate its independence day. Head coach Rahul Dravid has been occupied with team India for the West Indies tour and it was expected that Laxman will once again move to Ireland, but this time it seems Rahul is himself going to take the charge of coaching.
The tour of West Indies is all set to commence from August 18 and the final match will be played on August 23. This series will not only facilitate Jasprit Bumrah’s gradual reintegration into the Indian squad, but it also presents an opportunity for several young Indian talents to showcase their abilities. In this series, all the eyes will be on Rinku Singh.
According to the report, the Indian team will reach Ireland in two groups. The first batch will consist of players who are currently with team India for a five-match T20I series in Florida. The second group which also includes Jasprit Bumrah will leave from Mumbai on Tuesday morning.
