“It’s time to pick the best…..” Michael Vaughan Suggested To Pick This Indian Batter As The Opener In WTC Over Shubhman Gill

After IPL 2023, the Indian team has to play the final of the World Test Championship (WTC 2023 Final) against Australia, and the selectors have also announced the squad of the Indian team for this final match. Ajinkya Rahane has also returned among the 15 players selected for this final at the Kennington Oval ground in London from June 7 to 11.

However, as soon as the Indian team was announced, many veterans and cricket experts started giving their opinion about the playing XI of Team India.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has made a shocking selection regarding the openers of India. Vaughan believes India should replace Shubman Gill with KL Rahul as an opener in English pitch conditions.

“In England conditions, KL Rahul plays the moving ball better than Shubman Gill, so that is the only change they can make. I have noticed some minor technical glitches. He moves his hand a little too far in the direction of the moving ball. Shubman is a brilliant young talent, but you must win this Test match. Forget history, and it’s time to pick the best playing XI to win the World Test Championship.” Vaughan told a media house.

Vaughan further added, “I am not sure if he will do that (KL Rahul in place of Shubman Gill) because I am not in the selection room. But don’t choose the team by looking at any future plans. You have to select the team, the one match only.”

Currently, both Shubman and Rahul are in good form in the IPL. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see whether the team will go with KL Rahul as an opener for this mega match or with Shubman Gill.

Captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill have started the innings. KL Rahul has batted lower down the order due to low scores. Vaughan suggested KL Rahul should open the innings as he is more experienced than Gill.
