Currently, former Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram has been promoting his autobiography “Sultan A Memoir”. In a podcast, he has made a big revelation of Pakistan rehabilitation centers. Once Wasim was in the rehab center for two-and-half months. Speaking on this he said “it is illegal in the world, but not in Pakistan”.
Talking about this, a Pakistani legend said, once he became addicted to cocaine. Former left-hand pacer stated I was in England when I tried it first after that I was addicted to cocaine. I can’t even move a bit without it and not even socialize without it.
“In England, somebody at a party said ‘you wanna try it?’ I was retired, I said ‘yeah’. Then one line became a gram. I came back to Pakistan. Nobody knew what it was but it was available. I realized, I couldn’t function without it, which means I couldn’t socialize without it. It got worse and worse. My kids were young. I was hurting my late wife a lot. We would have arguments.” Said Akram.
After he described the rehab environment, he said I was hurting my late wife and she suggested me to go there. I was in the rehab center for a month but they kept me to two-and-a-half month against my will.
“She said there’s a rehab, you can go there. I said alright I will go there for a month but they kept me there for two and a half months against my will. That is illegal in the world but not in Pakistan. That didn’t help me. When I came out, a rebellion came into me. It’s my money, I stayed in that horrible place against my will” further legendary pacer added.
Further explaining the rehab center of Pakistan he said there was only a corridor and eight rooms. It was very tough to be there and a horrible time for me.

“In western movies, even in Australia you see rehabs have lovely big lawns, people give lectures, you go to gym. But I went to a place (in Pakistan) with a corridor and eight rooms, that’s it. It was very very tough. It was a horrible time” Wasim Akram said.
In the end, he added that my wife passed and I didn’t even know how my kids were doing in daily life. In our culture, our wives do all the pieces of stuff of children and our work is to raise funds. After losing her I had faced many problems in my life.
