Ishan Kishan Speaks Out: BCCI Contracts Snub and Ranji Trophy Controversy

Mumbai Indians star wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan has been in good touch heading into this year’s IPL. On the previous day, in a match against Royal Challengers Bangaluru, Ishan Kishan hammered RCB’s bowling lineup, scoring 69 of just 34 balls when Mumbai Indians were chasing the target of 197.

After the match got over, Ishan Kishan spoke about the various controversies regarding him and his
future in the IPL.

It is a well-known fact that Ishan Kishan had earlier pulled out midway through the South Africa tour, citing mental health issues, and made himself unavailable for international and domestic cricket, which led to his contract snub.

Speaking about the same, Ishan Kishan said, “I was practicing. When I took time off from the game, people were talking a lot.
Many things came from social media. But you should also realize that many things are not in the hands of the players.”

Ishan Kishan also spoke about the shift in his mindset that he brought during the break. He gave himself time to tackle the low phase of his career.

Speaking about the same, Ishan Kishan said, “The only thing you can do is utilize the time properly.
Also, thinking about the previous Ishan Kishan, I would never leave a delivery in the first two overs, even if they were bowling well. With time, I have learned that even 20 overs are a big game; you can take your time and go ahead. Even though we have lost matches, we want to work together as a team. Changes have come, like even if I am not performing, if I know someone else is not performing, I talk to them. I want to know what they are thinking. So these are things that helped me during the break.”
