Is There Still Hope for Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer to Represent India after Being Dropped from the Central Contract?

The board of cricket control in India made a massive move as two of the star Indian players, Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan, were dropped from the latest central contract list of the BCCI for the 2023–24 season.

Earlier, BCCI gave a clear verdict of wanting their players, who are part of the central contract, to play in the Ranji Trophy, but both Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan failed to comply with the demands made by BCCI.

Team India’s middle-order batter informed his state about back pain as a reason to skip Mumbai’s quarterfinal clash against Baroda, but NCA’s head, Nitin Patel, denied any such fresh injuries to Shreyas Iyer, saying that the batter was ready and fit to play.

On the other hand, Ishan Kishan also did not play for his state in spite of team India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, requesting batters play domestic cricket to make themselves eligible for selection.

Now the biggest question arises: will Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer feature for Team India in the near future?

The answer is yes! In spite of being dropped from the central contract, both Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer will be eligible to play for Team India, as the selection of players is based on their recent form and performance, not on the central contract released by BCCI.
