Gujarat Titans had a fantastic maiden season in the Indian Premier League owing in large part to Shubman Gill, who even contributed a critical unbeaten knock in the tight finals game that earned them the victory. But there have been rumors about him quitting the squad after a Twitter conversation between the team and the player.
The official Twitter handle of IPL team Gujarat Titans tweeted, “It’s been a journey to remember. We wish you all the best for your next endeavour, @ShubmanGill!” Gujarat Titans tweeted. Gill responded with a heart emoji and a hug emoji.”
Here’s the tweet,
Cricket Twitter erupted as it hinted that Shubhman Gill might not play for the Gujarat Titans in the next year of IPL. One user wrote, “What’s going on ??”. Another user, supposedly a RCB fan, invited Shubhman to RCB for opening with Virat Kohli.
However, other users believed that this was all a part of a social media farce or an advertising effort.
“All these just to say ” Account got hacked”,” one user commented.
“Advertisement,” wrote another.
Both Shubhman Gill and Gujarat Titans’ social media handles have given any confirmation to the speculations regarding the release of the opening batter.
One of the Gujarat Titans’ pre-auction draught choices was Gill, who started his IPL career with Kolkata Knight Riders.
In the 16 games he played after that, he scored 483 runs with a strike rate of 132.33. His career-best T20 score of 96 was one of his four half-centuries.
His work at the top of the lineup significantly contributed to Gujarat Titans’ victory against Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2022 championship game.
Gill helped Gujarat meet the 131-run goal in the final match by hitting an unbeaten 45 off 43 deliveries.
