Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson, along with 7 other players, have opted out of the upcoming Pakistan vs New Zealand tour due to their commitments in IPL 2024. This came after the Blackcaps announced the squad against Pakistan on Wednesday, April 3rd.
New Zealand is ready to participate in a 5-match T20I series against Pakistan before the World Cup in the West Indies and the USA. The series is set to commence on April 18th.
Michael Bracewell has been designated as the captain of the side which will feature players such as Mark Chapman, Finn Allen, and Jimmy Neesham. Along with Rachin and Williamson, senior players like Trent Boult, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, and Mitchell Santner will also be absent from the tour due to their IPL contracts.
A statement from New Zealand Cricket reads, “Trent Boult, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Mitch Santner, and Kane Williamson were all unavailable due to Indian Premier League commitments.”
