IPL 2024: SRH Would Regret Leaving Harry Brook, Former Hyderabad Coach Strong Analysis On England Star

Former coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad Tom Moody has expressed the opinion that the team might come to regret their decision to release English batsman Harry Brook before the upcoming mini-auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In the IPL Auction of 2023, Hyderabad purchased Harry Brook as their priciest acquisition in the IPL 2023 auction. They spent a substantial ₹13.25 crore for this young player from England.

Moody suggests that Hyderabad may have released Brook to obtain him at a lower price in the current auction. He also added that it would not have been easy for the SRH to get back Harry Brook in mini-caution as many other franchises might want the services of the dynamic batter of England.

While speaking to Star Sports, Moody said, “Maybe their strategy is to get him back for half the price. But I think SRH are potentially going to regret the fact that Harry Brook is back in the auction because he is an unbelievable talent.”

Harry Brook had a challenging IPL season in 2023, marked by a disappointing performance overall. Despite a notable unbeaten 100-run innings against the Kolkata Knight Riders, he did not do anything memorable for his franchise.

He also talked about his batting position of Brook and said, “The other thing we need to consider is that in his first season of the IPL, he batted out of position in 80 percent of the games. He was bought as a middle-order No. 4 player, and they forced him up to the top of the order, which he had never opened in T20 cricket before.
