Australian skipper Pat Cummins has created history in the mini-auction of IPL 2024. Cummins entered the IPL auction with the base price of INR 2 Crore and it was Chennai Super Kings who opened the bid. However, after an online rush between RCB and SRH, it was the Hyderabad Franchise that managed to include the Australian all-rounder in their team.
Cummins sold out to SRH for INR 20.50 Crore and became the most expensive player in the history of IPL. Before it, the young England all-rounder Sam Curran got to the Punjab Kings for INR 18.5 Crore in the 2023 edition. The third on the list is Australian all-rounder Cameron Green who went to Mumbai in IPL 2023 for INR 17.5 Crore.
This time, Cummins will be playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad and most probably the franchise would look to pick him as the captain of the side. SRH already has a bunch of overseas players in the name of Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klassen, Glenn Phillips, and Marco Jansen. And this year, before Pat Cummins, Travis Head was sold to the SRH for INR 6.8 crore, and Wanindu Hasaranga also joined the squad for the upcoming season of IPL 2024.

This auction will feature a pool of 333 players, and the 10 franchises can fill a maximum of 77 slots. Among these, 30 slots are reserved for overseas players. The pool comprises 214 Indian players and 119 overseas players, including two from Associate nations. It includes 116 capped players and 215 uncapped players. Apart from that, two players come from Associate nations.
