On Monday, 17th April, in the 24th match of Indian Premier League at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost by 8 runs against Chennai Super Kings. CSK set a target of 227 runs but RCB could not make it in their favour.
Bangalore needed 19 runs to win in the final over but failed to do so on a pitch that was favourable for batting. Despite the massive efforts of Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis, Bangalore’s hopes of winning the match were almost reduced when they lost both Maxwell and Faf Du Plessis.
After Faf du Plessis got out on the final ball of the 14th over, RCB had a score of almost 160 runs on the board. After the match, Glenn Maxwell expressed regret over the defeat and stated that either he or Faf du Plessis should have been there till the end to ensure the win for RCB.
While talking to the reporters after the match, Glenn Maxwell said,”A bit disappointed but I think we did so well to get so close and we were in the position to win the game. One of us should have been there a little bit longer, maybe had taken it deeper. We were trying to go as hard as possible to keep the run rate under 10. Once the ball started to get softer, it started to hold a little bit, we saw how Jadeja get one past Dinesh Karthik back in the end.”
“It was a pretty exciting game of cricket. There’s always going to be a winner or loser; unfortunately, we fell a little bit short,” told Maxwell.
