IPL 2023: Shikhar Dhawan Hit His Non-striker Bhanuka Rajpaksha, Sri Lankan Batter Walks Off The Field

In the 8th match of Indian Premier League 2023, Punjab Kings reached an amazing total against Rajasthan Royals batting first. The Punjab Kings team has given a target of 198 runs to Rajasthan. Thanks to a powerful batting display by captain Shikhar Dhawan who scored 86 runs in just 56 balls with the help of nine fours and three sixes.

During this match in Guwahati, the Sri Lankan batter Bhanuka Rajapaksha was hit above the wristband of his left hand by a powerful shot from Shikhar Dhawan. After this, he was forced to retire hurt. The incident occurred in the 11th over of Punjab Kings’ innings on the ball of veteran Indian off-spinner R Ashwin.

After being hurt by their powerful shot at Dhawan, Rajapaksa was handled by the physio and they assessed his condition. The Sri Lankan batter seemed to be in pain after being hit by the shot and his left arm was later strapped by the medical team.

In this match, Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bowl first. The opener Prabhsimran Singh made his debut IPL half-century. Opening alongside Shikhar Dhawan, he got off to a flying start, hitting a fifty off just 28 balls. He smashed seven fours and three sixes and played with a strike rate of 176.47.

Apart from Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh, the wicket-keeper batter Jitesh Sharma joined the party and scored a quick 27 runs off 16 balls.

For Rajasthan Royals, Jason Holder got two wickets. The India spinners, R Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal took 1-1 wickets each.
