Arjun Tendulkar’s debut in the Indian Premier League IPL was widely celebrated by the fans, especially by the supporters of the Mumbai Indians. He was picked by the team during the IPL 2021 auction and he finally got a chance to play in the fourth game of Mumbai Indians against the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2023.
When Arjun Tendulkar made his IPL debut he and his father Sachin Tendulkar made history by becoming the first father-son duo to play in the league. The mentor of Mumbai Indians Sachin Tendulkar was overcome with emotion and shed tears as he watched Arjun bowl his first over. Arjun was also picked in the next match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18 and also got his first wicket in the IPL.
During the SRH vs MI match, Ian Bishop, who is one of the commentators, shared an interesting tale about Sachin Tendulkar while discussing the most famous father-son pair in the IPL.
During the commentary, Bishop said, “The floor manager had a word with Sachin, I won’t call out his name, the floor manager, mentioned that he loved the fact that Arjun is now playing in the IPL. Sachin had tears in his eyes. And he said, you know when I bowled the first time in the IPL, my first over went for five. Arjun’s first over went for five as well. So Sachin had that in his mind all the way through.”
Ravi Shastri also replied to Ian Bishop and said,“He will be tensed though. Every time Arjun gets the ball, Bish (Bishop) mentioned about him remembering. He will forget a few innings of his but he will not forget one over. And that he’s bowled. He will remember every over.”
