In the 61st match of Indian Premier League 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders beat Chennai Super Kings by six wickets. This match was played at MA Chidambaram stadium and with this defeat, CSK will look to have a must-win against Delhi Capitals.
It was a low-scoring match at Chepauk where Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first. Shivam Dube was the highest scorer for Chennai where he scored 48 runs in 34 balls. Opener Devon Conway also got 30 runs but the slow wicket of CSK did not support their own batters. With the efforts of these batters, CSK hung 144 runs on the board at the loss of six wickets.
For Kolkata, Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine got two wickets each while Shardul Thakur managed to get one.
While chasing the target of 145 runs, KKR was once struggling at 33/3 where Deepak Chahar of CSK got all three wickets. After that captain Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh had a 99-run partnership between them and took their team home against the men in yellow. Rana scored 57 runs in 44 balls while Rinku got 54 runs in 43 balls.
For Chennai Super Kings, Deepak Chahar got one wicket. Rinku Singh was sent to the pavilion after being run out. After this win, KKR is there at seventh position on the points table while CSK remains there at second spot.
