The former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathaan has given a huge statement on the Delhi Capitals management after their poor performance in the ongoing IPL 2023. Pathan suggested that Sourav Ganguly should be considered as the head coach of Delhi Capitals in the upcoming IPL season.
In March of this year, Sourav Ganguly was appointed as the Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals. As part of his role, Ganguly has been entrusted with overseeing various aspects of the franchise, including the Women’s Premier League team, Pretoria Capitals in SA20, and Dubai Capitals in ILT20.
During the 2019 season, Sourav Ganguly served as a mentor for Delhi Capitals and worked closely with Ricky Ponting in finding the young talents.
The 2023 IPL season proved to be a major setback for Delhi Capitals as they suffered defeats in their first five matches. Although they experienced an improvement in their performance and won four out of the subsequent five matches. Recently they lost to Chennai Super Kings and then Punjab Kings end their hopes of playoffs.
The former Indian pacer recommended that Sourav Ganguly should be given the role of the head coach for the next season.
“Sourav Ganguly’s presence in the Delhi dugout is a big deal. I think if Dada is given the responsibility of coach as well, he can make a big difference in this team. Dada has knowledge of the psychology of Indian players. He knows how to run the dressing room and Delhi should definitely take advantage of that. At the time of the toss, Warner has said that his team has now started preparing for the next season and in this context, it would not be wrong to see Ganguly in a changed role,” said Pathan.
