Sunrisers Hyderabad is the only franchise in IPL 2023 that does not have its captain. Before the IPL Auction held on December 23, 2022, SRH parted away with Kane Williamson, and the Kiwi star was bought by Gujarat Titans.
Sunrisers have some star and experienced players in their squad but the name of the captain is still unveiled. Meanwhile, the star Indian spinner R Ashwin has talked about the possible future captain of SRH for the upcoming season. From fans, some experts believe one between Mayank Agarwal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar could be a good option but Ashwin came out with a different name.
While having a cricketing conversation on his youtube channel, the veteran picked South African dashing batter Aiden Markram as the next captain of SRH.
According to Ashwin, Markram had a superb tournament playing for Sunrisers Eastern Cape, the sister franchise of Sunrisers Hyderabad in SA20. He led the team to win the inaugural edition where they beat Joburg Kings. He did not only get 336 runs with the bat but he also got 11 wickets while bowling.
Ashwin, the South African batting all-rounder, has proven why he is a star, and he has no doubt that he will surpass players like Mayank and Bhuvneshwar in the race.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ashwin said, “Aiden Markram proved why he is a star. He had to have a good season and that is why Sunrisers had backed him. I have no doubt Aiden Markram will be the captain for Sunrisers Hyderabad as well in the IPL. It was an extraordinary SA20 season for him. He scored runs and picked up wickets as well.”
He further added,” So, very well done to Sunrisers Eastern Cape. Despite a few injury concerns for MI Cape Town, the Sunrisers were the ones that gelled well as a team.”
