IPL 2023 : Michael Vaughan Gives A Huge Statement On Ben Stokes’s Future For Chennai Super Kings

The former England captain and now cricket expert Michael Vaughan has given a huge statement for his countrymen Ben Stokes who is playing for Chennai Super Kings this year. He has said that Ben Stokes would perform with the bat with his full potential as he is unable to bowl.

Michael Vaughan said that Ben Stokes appeared to be out of form during Chennai Super Kings’ first game against Gujarat Titans on Friday. Despite this, Vaughan expressed hope that Stokes would recover and perform well in the upcoming matches.

While speaking on the Cricbuzz, Vaughan said, “I think Ben Stokes, with his knee problem and the fact that he can’t bowl and he’s now just in there as a batter, almost puts him under a bit more pressure. Not that he can’t cope with pressure, he is probably the best I’ve seen in an England shirt dealing with pressure.”

He further added, “But when you’re an all-rounder and then you’re just a batter and you’re just getting your fee for scoring runs, it just adds that little bit more pressure,” he added. “When you can bowl two or four overs and just contribute, he is that kind of a character who just wants to contribute all the time. He’s going to get his mind off just being a batter sorted. He just looked a little bit rusty the other day.”

In the match against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Ben Stokes scored only seven runs off six deliveries. He was eventually dismissed by leg-spinner Rashid Khan and was caught behind the wicket.
