IPL 2023: Lucknow Supergiants Won The Match Against Rajasthan, But KL Rahul Got Major Setback

Lucknow won by 10 runs in this match played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Wednesday night. Lucknow Supergiants captain KL Rahul has been fined Rs 12 lakh for slow over-rate during the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) match played here against Rajasthan Royals.

In a release, IPL stated, “This is the team’s first offence under the IPL Code of Conduct related to slow over-rate in the current season, and therefore captain Rahul has been fined Rs 12 lakh.”
The IPL aims to finish matches in three hours and 20 minutes, but slow over-rates are becoming an issue, with matches stretching over four hours.

Lucknow Supergiants defeated Rajasthan Royals by 10 runs due to the excellent performance of the bowlers after the half-century of opener Kyle Mayers.

Earlier, Batting first, Lucknow made a slow start, but in the last, Nicholas Pooran (29) and Marcus Stoinis (21) shared a 45-run partnership for the fifth wicket to take the score past 150 runs. Lucknow scored 154 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs.

Chasing the Supergiants’ target of 155, the Royals’ first wicket between openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (44 off 35 balls, four fours, two sixes) and Jos Buttler (40 off 41 balls, four fours, one six). Despite the partnership of 87 runs, they could only score 144 runs for six wickets.

For Supergiants, Avesh Khan took three wickets for 25 runs, while Marcus Stoinis took two wickets for 28 runs. While bowling economically, Naveen-ul-Haq gave only 19 runs in four overs but did not get any wickets.
