In the 15th match of IPL 2023, played on Monday(April 10), the KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) won a close and high-scoring match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by one wicket at Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Lucknow Super Giants were assigned to chase a massive total of 213 runs. The KL Rahul team had a poor start as they lost their opener Kyle Mayers for a duck in the very first over. In the fourth over, Wayne Parnell picked up two quick wickets – Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya which made the chase look difficult for the LSG.
LSG fortunes started to turn around as Marcus Stoinis and skipper KL Rahul formed a crucial partnership of 76 runs for the third wicket. Then the impact substitute Karn Sharma dismissed Stoinis on a well-made 65 off just 30 balls.
Nicholas Pooran and impact substitute Ayush Badoni joined forces and stitched a vital partnership of 84 runs for the sixth wicket in just 35 balls. However, Mohammed Siraj managed to break this partnership by dismissing Pooran, who played a blistering knock of 62 runs in just 19 balls.
Earlier RCB was asked to bat first by LSG. The team got off to a great start with the opening pair of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis putting on a solid 96-run partnership. Virat(61) was then dismissed by Amit Mishra in the 12th over.
After Kohli’s dismissal, Glenn Maxwell joined du Plessis and the duo added a quickfire 115 runs in just 50 balls for the second wicket. Maxwell was eventually dismissed by Mark Wood in the final over for a score of 59 off 29 balls. Du Plessis remained unbeaten on 79 off 46 balls and helped the team to put in a total of 212 runs.

For the quickfire of 62 runs in just 19 balls with the help of four fours and seven sixes, Pooran was adjudged the player of the match.
