IPL 2023: Kieron Pollard Talks About The MS Dhoni Wonder Before The MI-CSK Clash At Wankhede

The batting coach of Mumbai Indians and the former star of IPL, Kieron Pollard has given his opinion on the current skipper of Chennai Super Kings, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The highly anticipated match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings will be played today at Wankhede Stadium on April 8. It is worth noting that these two successful teams will be facing each other in this match for the first time in IPL 2023.

In 2022, both arch-rivals Mumbai and Chennai had disappointing performances as Mumbai finished last in the points table, and Chennai finished second to last. In the current season, Chennai has had a mixed start with one win and one loss in their two matches so far. On the other hand, Mumbai had a poor result against RCB in their first game.

Despite some setbacks, both Mumbai and Chennai have a reputation for bouncing back and winning the T20 league title. As the two teams prepare to face each other in the second double-header on Saturday Kieron Pollard shared his thoughts on MS Dhoni’s huge fan following. He compared Dhoni’s popularity with that of the legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.

“Fortunately, or unfortunately, when he plays this season, everywhere he goes, he’s going to have a home crowd and home support, because of what he has done. We have felt that years ago when we had our own icon, Sachin Tendulkar. No matter where we went throughout India, we had that support,” Pollard was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

Pollard had been a permanent member of Mumbai Indians, since last year but now he has marked himself retired from this cash-rich league and now serves as the batting coach for the franchise.
